Homemade Bread Day

Did you know bread has been made for thousands of years. Whoever takes the time to estimate these things estimates bread’s beginnings back to 5000-10,000 B.C. Since we live a faster lifestyle than they did 5000 years ago and use so much fast food, bread making falls into specialty and holiday baking. People don’t or can’t take the time to bake home-made bread. I love the fact that we have automatic bread makers. They are especially useful for those of us who aren’t able to knead the bread. A bread machine makes the process much easier. It has also caused a small comeback of home-made breads, especially specialty breads.

Even though today is Homemade Bread Day and since the weather is cold the celebration could be held over until the weekend. You and your parents will have more time for baking together. The purpose of Homemade Bread Day is easy to understand. So, take a little time out of your busy day today or over the week-end and make some bread. Your nose, your taste buds, and your whole family will be glad you did. You’ll love the aroma of homemade bread lingering in your home.
