What’s that in the back of the refrigerator!? I bet you put off finding out. That’s not a good idea because it only gets hairier, smellier, and raunchier. Hold your breath, scrunch your nose if you must, and get the job done. I usually do this every Tuesday because trash day is Wednesday. It doesn’t stay around in the trash so long drawing flies and other critters.
Everything in your refrigerator was once a fresh, healthy food, ready to eat. It may have been a tasty leftover, intended for later enjoyment. I hate throwing food out. Unfortunately, things get pushed to the back of the refrigerator and slowly transform into something unidentifiable. They are so dried out, moldy covered and nasty, that you have to dispose of them at arms length. I have a real problem with fruits and veggies. I save the fruits for something special or a special night. When the night comes, they are unrecognizable. I believe sometimes I could win the prize for the worst refrigerator surprises. Not an honor I’d be proud of.
If you haven’t already, use today to clean out your refrigerator, top to bottom. When it comes to food safety, we fall back to the old saying ” When in doubt, throw it out!” My sister used that on some ham I was trying to decide on using on Sunday. I threw it out. 🙂 Thanksgiving is in another week, use this day to make room for the turkey and other goodies for your celebration. Just don’t fill it up again between now and then.
